Film Making

  • The Dialogue Edit phase of audio post-production focuses on cleaning, organizing, and smoothing dialogue recordings for clarity and consistency. This involves removing unwanted noise, fixing timing issues, adjusting levels, ensuring lip-sync accuracy, and blending different takes. The goal is to create a seamless, natural dialogue track that flows smoothly within the overall sound mix.

  • The Sound Design phase of audio post-production involves creating, sourcing, and manipulating sound effects and atmospheric elements to enhance the mood, tone, and realism of a project. This includes crafting unique sounds, layering effects, and blending them with the overall mix to support the narrative. The process often involves using synthesized sounds, libraries, and custom-designed audio to build immersive soundscapes that elevate the viewer's emotional and sensory experience.

  • The Foley creation phase of audio post-production focuses on recording custom sound effects that match on-screen actions, such as footsteps, clothing rustles, and object handling. These sounds are performed and captured in sync with the visuals to enhance realism and detail. Foley artists use various props and surfaces to replicate everyday sounds, ensuring they blend naturally with the dialogue and other elements of the sound mix, while providing a more immersive and tactile audio experience.

  • The Music Composition phase of audio post-production involves creating original music that aligns with the emotional tone and pacing of the project. Composers write, arrange, and produce music that enhances key moments, supports narrative themes, and complements the overall mood. This process often includes collaborating with directors to ensure the music fits the vision, and it may involve recording live instruments or using digital software. The final score is mixed to blend smoothly with dialogue, sound effects, and other audio elements.

  • The Mixing process in audio post-production involves balancing and blending all audio elements—dialogue, sound effects, Foley, and music—into a cohesive soundtrack. Engineers adjust levels, panning, EQ, and dynamics to ensure clarity and emotional impact, while also creating spatial depth with stereo or surround mixes (5.1, 7.1, or immersive formats like Dolby Atmos).

For stereo mixes, sound is distributed across two channels (left and right), while surround mixes expand this to multiple speakers, creating a more immersive audio environment.

Loudness standards, such as those defined by ITU (International Telecommunication Union) or EBU (European Broadcasting Union), must be adhered to, ensuring consistent volume levels across platforms. For broadcast, typical loudness targets are -23 LUFS (Loudness Units Full Scale) in Europe and -24 LKFS in the US. This ensures the final mix is within acceptable dynamic range and loudness limits.

Stem delivery involves exporting separate tracks for dialogue, music, sound effects, and other key elements, allowing for flexibility in future revisions, localisation, or specific platform requirements. These stems are used for final adjustments in different formats or re-mixes without altering the entire audio mix.

Prices are AUD for each audio post-production phase, depending on the duration of the project. Pricing can vary significantly based on the complexity of the project, the studio or freelancer, and the quality of service required.

Discounted prices are offered for independent, amateur + freelance practitioners.
